looking back - three months later

Taking a moment now to look back on my time in beautiful Czech Republic (NOT Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia doesn’t exist anymore. It’s been almost 18 years people!), I learned quite a lot. Like getting lost in Prague at midnight is not the best idea, especially when you don’t have any Czech speakers with you. And lesson plans are best prepared before leaving.

But I also learned about the value of prayer (thank you Alli!), the relevance of the Bible in everyday life, the importance of evangelism, how much God actually works in my life (who woulda thought, huh?), the importance of building real relationships, keeping up said relationships, and especially how being used by God is the most spectacular thing a human being can experience.

Of all the trips and retreats I’ve been on - to places like Hume Lake and Mexico - none of them have had quite the impact on me as this one. Three months later, I still feel changed by what I experienced in the Czech Republic. I still feel the desire to be used and the overwhelming love of the Lord. I still feel the urdge to work daily on my relationship with Jesus Christ. And I still feel loved by the wonderful, wonderful people I met across the world.

If you can only take one thing away from these sporadic journal entries, let it be this: the Lord is good, He wants to work in you, He is working in you, and He will use you, especially when you don’t know what you’re doing.

And now, here are some pictures of our time in Praha (also known to Americans as Prague):

Bob driving us to Prague. Notice his hand is NOT on the wheel.

I love this picture so much. I don’t think you understand.

Shmancy church.

Making unhappy guards happy! Or probably just annoying them.

More shmancy buildings and whatnot.

Stain glass depiction of the Holy Spirit descending on the apostles.

Some clock thing tourists love (also known as thPrague Astronomical Clock or Prague Orloj).

The Charles Bridge (at night)!

And thus concludes the Czech adventure. Wow, it’s been over for a while, but all of a sudden I’m sad all over again. What a trip. What an experience. And yes, I do plan on going back next year. Want to come with?
