Day 9 (Tuesday)

Eli’s class (standing L to R: Risa, Jenda, Vlasta, Hanza; sitting L to R: Hanka, Kuba, Diana, Hannah; laying across everyone: Eli)!

4 years of going to Mexico, & never have I felt the wrath of Montezuma’s Revenge, or seen that burrito from yesterday come back up. One week here in the Czech Republic, & all of a sudden I’m at the toilet. I’m sorry, Mom. I know you probably don’t want to hear this, but yeah. That’s where I spent the majority of today.

Praise God that I only had to teach half the day. Praise God that it was hike day (and when I say hike, I’m talking 8 miles, one way). Praise God that it was raining so the hike was optional. Praise God that I got to rest. Praise God for Donna Jeffrey.

Halfway through devotions this morning, I was suddenly hit by a wave of nausea. At first, I figured it was just because I was hungry, but it only kept getting worse & it eventually got to the point where I had to leave the room & empty what little food I had in my stomach. I thought that maybe once I ate some food, I’d feel better. However, breakfast today was boiled hot dogs; not exactly appetizing, no matter how good you feel. So I took maybe four bites of bread & emptied that all midway through class, which Jon was great enough to lead for me. & then I slept until dinner. Eventful, no?

Hikers, before they all got soaked.

Katia, eating something chocolaty on the hike.

The evening program was all about Ruth & how, despite being a widow & a foreigner, she still stayed positive and worked hard through the trails of being an outcast, which eventually led to her redemption through Boaz (a pretty cool dude who married her & therefore made her worthwhile in the eyes of their society). & although the story isn’t too relatable to teenagers who probably don’t care about the Bible, God totally blessed our discussion. More students began to open up get involved. Thank you Jesus!
