Day 10 (Wednesday)

Donuts for lunch! Yum, yum, yum.

My class (in tree top to bottom L to R: Jon, Martina, Daniela, standing L to R: Iva, me, Marek, Lukas, on ground: Richard)!
Today, I was hot & I was cold. I was yes & I was no. I was in & I was out. I was up & I was down. That’s from Katy Perry’s Hot n’ Cold, in case you didn’t already know that. But yeah, I think it accurately portrays how I was feeling today. I think a majority of it was because feeling discouraged about my relationship making skills. Annie seemed to be doing just great at connecting with the students, and same with Eli, while I was feeling pretty lame in that category. Our team of five (Jim, Donna, Annie, Eli, & me) got together after lunch and had a little meeting to go over how we’ve been doing, so I asked for them to pray for me in that respect.
& if I’ve learned anything this week, it’s the power of prayer.
For “some reason” during sports, I really started clicking with everyone. We were playing these crazy games, as usual, and I was having so much fun (which is saying a lot for me, because I’ve never enjoyed recreation at Hume)! I found it easy to encourage my teammates, as well as the rest of the campers & just be able to strike up random conversations and be silly. We played ridiculous games like Sock Wars (the try-and-rip-off-everyone-else’s-socks-while-walking-like-a-crab game) and even Kajabe Kan-Kan (except there are literally no plastic trash cans in the Czech Republic, so we used my giant suitcase).

Poor Marek’s getting double-teamed during sock wars.

Taking Kajabe to Europe!
During evening program, Jim actually spoke. First he told the story of David & Bathsheba, & David’s snowball of a sin that the Lord still manage to forgive him for and redeem him from. Then he shared how he came to Christ, despite all the bad decisions he’s made. Then during our discussion group, all they wanted to talk about was Jim’s story, which had a powerful impact on them.
Then, even after that, I was able to talk more with Merriam & Martina about where they’re at with God, along with my roommate. So although I was in an iffy mood at the beginning of the day, the Lord turned it into a wonderful day of getting to know people & getting closer.

Doing the camp dance!
